Ireland - Page 10 - Dingle Peninsula continued: Beehive Huts, Coastal scenery, Slea Head - Tip of the Peninsula, Gallarus Oratory, Connor Pass
Beehive Huts
According to Fodor, there are 414 of these Beehive Huts in just a 3-mile stretch of coast on Dingle Peninsula (between Slea Head and Dunquin). We saw 5 structures on this guy's farm. It cost 1 punt to get in and cross his property.

Comments from Fodor: "To the north is Dingle Bay and the peaks of the Dingle Peninsula, which will, in all probability, be shrouded in mist. If they are not, the gods have indeed blessed your journey." (Amen!)

Gallarus Oratory
Gallarus Oratory is a Christian church, 7th or 8th century - still watertight after more than a thousand years! This stone building is a perfect example of dry rubble masonry (no mortar), made of gritstone from the area and is situated at the south-eastern corner of Smerwich Harbour on the Dingle Peninsula, County Kerry.
